LASER HAIR REMOVAL
FAQ ?
AM I ELIGIBLE FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL? PRE-CARE TREATMENT
YES! Our Laser hair removal can be performed on all skin tones, types and in-grown hairs provided you are not:
- Pregnant or breastfeedingย
- Your hair in that area of treatment is not grey, white or red. (As there is little to no melanin in the hair and thus the laser is unable to effectively damage the hair follicle).
- On any Accutane medicationย
- If you have waxed, plucked or bleached your hairs in the last 2 weeks. (In order for the laser to effectively work, the hair in area being treated needs to be in its natural state- but donโt worry just wait two weeks and then come in).ย
If you are unsure of your eligibility, feel free to book a consultation. Donโt worry consultations are on us!
PRE-CARE TREATMENT FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL
We want your experience with us to be as painless, rejuvenating and effective as possible, thatโs why the following pre-care treatment will need to be followed before attending your hair laser removal appointment.
- For an optimally effective and safe treatment sun exposure is to be stopped at least 3-4 weeks prior session.ย
- Avoid tanning and tanning bed one month prior to laser treatment.
- The intake of sun activators or the use of chemical self-tanning lotions is to be stopped 2 weeks prior session.
- It is mandatory for you to mention all the medications and/or nutritional complements you are taking. Some of their components might be photosensitive and/or photofragilizing to the skin.
- The area to be treated should be shaven the previous day or on the day of treatment.ย
- If shaving is not tolerated on facial areas for instance depilatory creams or curved scissors could be usedย
- It is very important not to wax plug or trim hair out with any means other than making use of razors or depilatory creams at least 3 weeks prior to the session.
- The use of bleaching creams should be stopped at least 3 weeks before the session.
- If the face is being treated, try to limit the amount of make-up, creams or moisturizes used as all will need to be removed prior to treatment.
We know itโs over-whelming but, donโt stress we will always send you a reminder prior to your appointment.ย
FEELING NERVOUS? HERE IS WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR PROCEDURE
Before any laser hair removal treatments takes place, a consultation will take place with a therapist who will analyse your skin and hair type and colour to ensure that you are eligible an candidate. If you are on any medication or have any medical or health conditions, you will now need to inform us- so as to make any necessary adjustments when treatment will take place. A test spot may also be performed, to ensure that no extreme sensitivity is experienced.
ย Our experienced therapist will not only explain to you the laser hair removal procedure but also answer any questions you may have.ย ย
During the laser session, you will feel a warm prickling sensation. This feeling only lasts a few seconds. You should not feel any pain at any point in time- we want your experience with us to be as painless and comfortable as possible. Should you feel any discomfort, inform our friendly and well equipped therapist.
Once the laser is completed we will apply an after-care treatment to provide an additional rehydration to your skin. On any areas treated that are exposed to the sun, expect that we will apply a sun-screen/block, to ensure that your skin is protected from any sun exposure. If you have any particular sun-screen that you like to use, please bring it along.
Thereafter your therapist, will take you through the after-care treatment that will need to be followed, and your next appointment will be booked.

BETWEEN LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENTS
Laser hair removal is an 8- 10 session procedure in order to see the effective, maximum removal of hair. The number of sessions however, is an average and may differ from person to person. It is important to always book a consultation prior to your actual treatment to understand the procedure that will take place and the time frame recommended for your skin type and skin tone. Hair laser removal should take place every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your hair growth.
Here are some key things that should be done between treatments.
- Only shaving and depilatory creams are to be used on the area treated, you can shave as hair grows or just before your next session.
- Ensure you are not waxing, plucking or bleaching the hair in that area.
- Try to avoid excessive sun exposure and always wear sun-screen.
- Your make up, normal skin care routine, fragrance and deodorant may still be applied.
- Try to avoid trying new and aggressive products on your skin 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
- It is important to moisturize your skin properly (using an Aloe Vera-based cream) or just your regular skin care products.
Note that the regrowth time needed for remaining hair becomes longer from session to session and the remaining hair turns finer. If you are unsure or have any questions feel free to contact us on our WhatsApp hotline.
POSSIBLE RISKS AND SIDE-EFFECTS
Laser hair removal is virtually painless and has little to no side effects. Although rare, complications may arise after laser hair removal procedure, especially in circumstances where pre-care instructions were not adhered to. If any irregular side-effects i.e. blistering, hyper/hypo- pigmentation should occur, please contact us immediately.
The area that is being treated on may experience redness immediately after the laser hair removal treatment, but no extreme sensitivity or blistering should occur. Expect the redness to disappear after 24 hours. Any sensitivity experienced on the area should dissipate after 48 hours. It is extremely important to follow the pre-care and after-care treatments, and to especially avoid extreme exposure to sun as this may attribute to sensitivity and redness.
